What does nabemono mean in the first place?(そもそもナベモノってどんな意味なの?)

Nabemono literally means “pot things” and it actually refers to dishes cooked in a pot. Nabemono is usually cooked in a big earthen pot known as “donabe”. It is considered that donabe is great to bring out the flavor of the ingredients and keeps the food inside warm.

What’s the most typical hot pot?(代表的な鍋料理って何?)

The most typical nabemono would be “yosenabe”. Usually, yosenabe contains meat, seafood and vegetables cooked in fish or seaweed broth. Having said that, any ingredients can be used in yosenabe, as there is no concrete recipe. Incidentally, “yose” refers to gathering things together, and yosenabe contains all-sorts of various foods.

What kind of noodles are served at the end of hot pot dishes?(鍋の終わりにはどんな麺を食べるの?)

The popular noodles include ramen and udon noodles. As they absorb the flavorsome broth, the cooked noodles of both kinds taste great. Some people enjoy adding pasta noodles with cheese into the broth. It is not a common way but the taste is quite addictive.
